Accessible Care
Around The New River Gorge Preserve, health is more than an element of who we are; it’s our essence. Our quality of life here is elevated by so many factors- place, community, lifestyle, and infrastructure- and each contributes to our ever-expanding health care network.
Plateau Medical Center, with its 24 hour emergency room, is less than 10 minutes from the Preserve. Major medical centers are available in Beckley, 25 minutes away, and Charleston, less than a 1 hour drive.
With hospitals and clinics spread throughout the county, our health care network is convenient and accessible. Physicians, nurses, and other providers in Fayette County are friendly and familiar, giving patients the attention that only a smaller community like ours can afford.
Now More than Ever
Technology and transportation have moved our health care network to the forefront. Communication and equipment advances provide Fayette County with the best care available for its communities. Our geography, a great obstacle one hundred years ago, is now our great asset; mountain life is good for you, and our great health care network is proof.
Learning Changes Lives
Throughout our county, our communities, and our culture, we see education as something that carries beyond classrooms. Our experiences here are broad enough to make us welcome everywhere, and unique enough to forever call Fayette County “home”.
Local Learning
Classrooms in Fayette County offer our kids the perfect balance between small settings and big ideas. With a friendly, safe atmosphere and some of the best student/teacher ratios in the country, our children have every advantage 21st century learning can provide. We have the technology and communications that are necessary for today’s students.
Higher Education
There’s no reason to stop learning with so many choices to take advantage of here in the mountains. WVU Tech, Concord, and Mountain State distinguish Fayette County with having access to three separate fully accredited universities. Fayette Institute of Technology and other adult-learning alliances make continuing education fit perfectly within the spectrum of study in our county.
Our Outdoor Classroom
Most people who’ve spent time with us have visited our outdoor classroom. It’s big enough for everyone, and we like to think that it’s one of the best in the world. Beyond just recreation, living within such a vibrant geography informs our lives. Mountains, valleys, rivers, and trails tell us as much about our world as they do about ourselves. It’s the part of education at The New River Gorge Preserve that we all share.
